What happens when a friend fills out your personal contact information on raffle ticket for the Minneapolis Gay Pride Festival?
Marriage! When I first read Jerry and Shanon’s Savannah romance story I knew I was in for a treat…
[The couple met on June 29th, 2008 at the Minneapolis Gay Pride Festival. (Because that's where straight people go to meet people?) Jerry was working at the US Bank booth getting people signed up to win $1,000. Shannon was at the booth with her guy friend who happened to mention she needed a date because she had been single too long-4 months, and wrote down all her info on the raffle ticket. Shannon was mortified.
Jerry dug through the pile of hundreds of tickets and found her info. He wrote her an e-mail the following day:
Hi Shannon,
First off, it was an absolute pleasure meeting you. I know I am bending a little from my statement from yesterday. I said I wouldn't "call" so technically I'm not, I know this is a bit of a grey area but you will have to forgive me. The last possible thing I anticipated was being introduced to someone as possible "dating material". Let me clarify that a little. The interaction wasn't completely a surprise, but being introduced to a beautiful, single, strait WOMAN was the part that through me for a loop because of the event we were at.
Let me apologize, I could tell you were uncomfortable and I didn't make it any easier on you by saddling you with "the call". I could have made things easier by taking on the responsibility like your friend (sorry I can't remember his name, my attention was on you) was telling me to. But in that situation I felt bad for you because I was being pushed onto you, I didn't want to scare you or leave you thinking "oh great, now that weird U.S. Bank guy is going to be stalking me". But at the same time I did want to make sure you realized that I was very interested in getting that call if you so chose to make it, I hope you picked up on that. I am sure you could tell I was uncomfortable as well, but I really liked the nervous energy I felt between us. The silence was killing me though inside, I just couldn't find anything to say to you as my mind raced through the options in my head. You were so sweet nervously standing there, while I'm sure I looked like an idiot without anything intelligent to say. I'm fine with that though, it was another great life experience and memory and it made my day. You couldn't wipe the smile off my face for the rest of the evening after you looked me right in the eyes and thanked me for my number while you were walking away.
On a side note, I must comment briefly on your feet. I don't have a fetish so don't worry. But as a dancer that is in toe shoes on a regular basis I had to look and you have great feet! You must take good care of them or maybe you are just genetically gifted! I had some dancer friends when I lived in Chicago so I had a chance to see some feet that didn't fair so well.
This is were I will turn things over to you. It would be great to get to know Shannon so give me a call, write me back here or let me know if you want me to call you. If you don't have an interest in any of the above I understand that as well and there would be NO hard feelings. However this plays out thanks for the brief encounter, it was just what I needed to get my heart beating a little faster yesterday! Oh, and it was really good for my ego to hear that I met you minimum requirements (according to your friend). What were they again? No body odor, "normal" and employed. The "normal" part might be the spoiler, we'll have to keep an eye on that. I really don't strive to be too normal.
Bye for now, hope to hear from you soon!

Genuine, easy going, and full of fun it was no surprise when meeting the couple how easy they were to work with. In the bridal chambers there could not have been a more elegant bridal portrait session. Shannon’s grace highlighted by her glowing gown and vintage accessories was then joined Jerry’s loving humor and candid charm. Under the canopy of the Spanish moss with the mist of Forsyth Park Fountain the wedding could not have been a more classy fun filled wedding.
